The Black Forest is well known for it’s wonderful ”cuisine”,  and perhaps best known for its famous gateau, a mouth watering mixture of chocolate, cherries, kirsh and cream.

After a visit here, you'll find there is more to the Black Forest than just cake, even if it does turn out to be your favourite !

Restaurants and hotels tend to use local produce where possible, reducing food miles, ensuring the local economy is supported wherever possible and that quality is maintained.


Excellent wines, which are locally produced, all add to a first class culinary experience and  you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the price too !


The Hotel Hirschen is situated right next door in the centre of the village. The obvious choice for those wishing to participate in a glass of wine or two with a beautifully prepared meal.


You may wish to round off your meal with a homemade ice cream or a cheeseboard with the finest cheeses all produced here in Wieden.


A 10 minute walk from our front door is Hotel Sonnenhang offering down to earth, good quality food, such as turkey escalope served on a fresh Rösti with a fine fresh mushroom sauce ( collected from the local forest). A daily changing menu is also on offer.


A 5 minute journey to the top of the mountain pass will  take you to the Berghotel Wiedener Eck. A firm favourite with locals  and guests alike, serving a well prepared cuisine in a traditional Black Forest restaurant with a stunning view over the valley towards the Swiss Alps.


Here you will find most of the menu card is founded on locally produced goods. A lovely restaurant with beautifully produced food for every occasion !




Restaurant Auerhahn – Rollsbach gives our guests a wonderful chance to experience absolute peace and quiet – often with the only sounds being the birds in the trees.


Approximately 40 minutes walk through a beautiful part of the forest, the Auerhahn can be reached by car within 5 minutes from our front door.


A fantastic pork steak with onions, pommes-frites and a salad is a firm favourite, as is the Hunters toast - pork medallions with wild mushrooms on toast with salad. Pork on toast might sound a little strange but you will definitely be pleasantly surprised.


 There are several Alp restaurants in the area offering their own produce on the menu, along with absolutely stunning views. A feast for the eyes and the palate !

 More unusual evenings out can be enjoyed in the vineyard restaurants in Kirchhofen ( for example,The Lorenz  in Kirchhofen or Kerber‘s in Staufen) which are open from March to July.


Here the vineyards sell their own wines and a small selection of other drinks with a reasonably priced menu. Very popular with the locals of the surrounding villages, these „restaurants“ are governed by rules which only allow them to sell their menus and wines at particular times. You can‘t usually reserve tables so you‘ll have to get there early!
